During his 1960 presidential campaign, John F. Kennedy often closed his speeches with the story of Colonel Davenport, the Speaker of the Connecticut House of Representatives: On May 19th, 1780, aka “New England’s Dark Day, the sky of Hartford darkened ominously, and some of the representatives, glancing out the windows, feared the end was at hand. Quelling a clamor for immediate adjournment, Davenport rose and said, "The Day of Judgment is either approaching or it is not. If it is not, there is no cause for adjournment. If it is, I choose to be found doing my duty. Therefore, I wish that candles be brought." Rather than fearing what is to come, we are to be faithful till Christ returns. Instead of fearing the dark, we're to be lights as we watch and wait.

Have you ever felt left out because of your Christianity? A friend’s dirty joke or conversation, a science class that teaches evolution, or showing integrity at work when others chose not to are all common ways we are left out. A Christian can live courageously in a world that doesn’t want them because God does!

God Cares About You! ~ Chad Fatula ~ 1/13/13 PM

God Cares About You!
1/13/13

 I. God cares about our emotional needs. Phil 4:6-7, Acts 16:25, Hebrews 13:15

II. God cares about our physical needs.  Hebrews 1:9, Matt 6:17, Mark 6:1

III. God cares about our spiritual needs. Matt 10:28

IV. God cares about what matters to us.  I Peter 5: 6-7

“Knowing that intercessory prayer is our mightiest weapon and the supreme call for all Christians today, I pleadingly urge our people everywhere to pray. Believing that prayer is the greatest contribution that our people can make in this critical hour, I humbly urge that we take time to pray--to really pray. Let there be prayer at sunup, at noonday, at sundown, at midnight--all through the day. Let us all pray for our children, our youth, our aged, our pastors, our homes. Let us pray for our churches. Let us pray for ourselves, that we may not lose the word ’concern’ out of our Christian vocabulary. Let us pray for our nation. Let us pray for those who have never known Jesus Christ and redeeming love, for moral forces everywhere, for our national leaders. Let prayer be our passion. Let prayer be our practice.”~~Robert E. Lee

“What do you first do when you learn to swim? You make mistakes, do you not? And what happens? You make other mistakes, and when you have made all the mistakes you possibly can without drowning - and some of them many times over - what do you find? That you can swim? Well - life is just the same as learning to swim! Do not be afraid of making mistakes, for there is no other way of learning how to live!”~~Alfred Adler
